AGRARIAN LAW STUDY CENTER, FACULTY OF LAW, UNIVERSITAS TRISAKTI HOSTS LEGAL DISCUSSION: “CERTIFICATION OF SEABED LAND, THREAT OR OPPORTUNITY”

On Friday, February 28, 2025, a legal discussion titled “Certification of Seabed Land, Threat or Opportunity” was held at the 2nd-floor meeting room, Building H, organized by the Agrarian Law Study Center (PSHA) of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Trisakti (FH Usakti). This event aimed to address the growing societal issue surrounding the certification of seabed land.

The event began with a welcoming speech and opening remarks by the Dean of FH Usakti, Prof. Dr. Dra. Siti Nurbaiti, S.H., M.Hum., who emphasized the importance of discussing current societal issues and expressed appreciation for the activity organized by PSHA. This legal discussion featured Dr. Gunanegara, S.H., M.Hum., a lecturer at the Master of Law Program at FH Usakti, as the speaker. He presented a paper titled “Case Study: Idealism and Realism of Land Rights Objects,” which discussed the regulation of land certification and the specific case of seabed land certification.

The participants, which included members of PSHA, consisting of faculty members teaching Agrarian Law courses at FH Usakti, Agrarian Law faculty from the University of Indonesia, and Ph.D. students in Law at FH Usakti, attentively engaged in the event. A Q&A session followed, providing an opportunity for participants to gain insights from various perspectives on the discussed topic. The discussion also served as an evaluation of the implementation of Law No. 5 of 1960 concerning the Basic Agrarian Law (UUPA), particularly in restoring the definition of land as an object of land rights and the process of land certification.

PSHA FH Usakti, led by Dr. Irene Eka Sihombing, S.H., CN, MHum, is tasked with discussing and analyzing contemporary issues in Agrarian Law (Land Law), particularly those that appear to diverge from the principles of Customary Law as the primary source for the formation of National Land Law. The legal discussion is held regularly to address the most current agrarian legal issues in society.
